1. Community led Development

YETOD believe that local leaders know and care deeply about their communities and the challenges they face and can lead a collective process of prioritizing development projects in their areas. YETOD believe that communities have the assets and capacities to meaningly contribute to financing their own development interventions. Our theory of change is that local communities are best equipped to generate their own ideas and resources for community-led projects, built on local knowledge, assets, skills and momentum. The provision of training, tools, direct investment and trust leads to achievement of “direct results” as well as strengthening “community capacity.”

3. Gender Action Learning System (GALS) & Positive Youth Development (PYD)

We use GALS and PYD to promote gender equality and economically empower youth, girls, and women. GALS, a community-led methodology, focuses on inclusion and women’s empowerment, helping both women and men improve income, food security, and more by analyzing their situations through a gender lens. This approach is accessible even to those who are illiterate, as it involves expressing visions through drawing. GALS naturally exposes harmful gender norms, builds confidence in women and girls to participate in decision-making, and fosters leadership aspirations.

5. Peer Education

Peer education is a proven methodology to provide young people. YETOD use peer education to train young leaders to have knowledge and skills so that they can respond to community issues effectively. The leaders will be trained as facilitators, youth friendly health service providers, community youth distributing agents to provide information and services to their peers.
